CELEBRATE CLASSICAL MUSIC IN REIMS
The picturesque park of Champagne invites you to stroll, daydream and awaken your senses at an ostentatious classical music extravaganza on Saturday July 23rd, marking the grand finale of the annual summer festival flâneries musicales. Just a stone’s throw away from the magnificent five-star Chateau Les Crayères in Reims, the park provides a perfect place to unwind with a leisurely picnic in between tastings at the iconic nearby Champagne houses. At night, the oak trees and firs will light up under the reds, blues and golds of the concert hall, the evening culminating in a dazzling fireworks display.
LIVE THE FASCINATING STORIES OF CHAMPAGNE’S WORLD HERITAGE SITES
The exceptional universal value of the Champagne vineyard cultural landscape, the birthplace of Champagne wine, was officially recognized by UNESCO just last year. The illustrious domains of Moet Chandon, Mercier, Pommery and Taittinger – to name but a few – are not only noteworthy for their continued innovation of a timeless cultural tradition but also for their outstanding representation of significant stages in human history. These ancient chalk cellars were once the passageways between Benedictine abbeys, and served as shelter from the bombardment of German artillery in World War I. No visit to the region would be complete without a walk down the Avenue de Champagne, the Saint-Nicaise hill and the slopes of Hautvillers.
THE NAME IS BOND, THE CHAMPAGNE IS BOLLINGER
Bollinger and Bond have one of the longest enduring partnerships in motion picture history. The renowned champagne has been featured in almost every Bond movie to date. Yet Bollinger had no intention of becoming the brand of Bond – it was the author of the original novels, Ian Fleming, who referenced Bollinger in the early 1950s. Despite sweeping success following the films, Bollinger has refused to let demand affect time honored respect for the very highest degree of excellence. The small family run house prides itself in quality craftsmanship carried out entirely by hand, using traditional oak barrels and environmentally conscious methods. Production remains strictly limited and the house is entirely closed to the public. Peplum’s distinguished clients, upon invitation, are amongst the rare few to experience a private tasting at the Bollinger estate – a pleasure worthy of Bond himself.
